Biography

Dr. Tyson has over 30 years academic and applied experience planning, implementing and evaluating strategic extension education/communication (social marketing) integrated rural development programs/projects. Most of his work deals with agriculture/environmental issues. He is Professor in the Department of Communication at Central Connecticut State University where he teaches courses in strategic public communication, attitude and behavior change theory, research methods, group/team communication, environmental communication, and public relations. In addition, he was Director of his university’s Center for Social Research for several years. He has worked both multi-year and short-term assignments in the east and southern Africa, the West Indies, and New Zealand. He has extensive survey research experience, program design and evaluation experience, and advanced qualitative/quantitative analysis skills and has published over 45 books, book chapters and journal articles.
