Biography
Jessica Greenebaum is Professor of Sociology at CCSU.
She received her doctorate in Sociology from Syracuse University in 2000. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (minor in Politics) in1994 from Ithaca College.
Dr. Greenebaum’s research and teaching areas focus on the intersections of gender, feminism, animals and society, and vegan studies. She regularly teaches Sociology of Gender, Animals & Society, and the Culture and Politics of Food as well as Qualitative Methods and Senior Seminar. Dr. Greenebaum has been nominated seven times for the University Teaching Excellence Award and won the LGBT Center and Office of Equity and Inclusion Rainbow Awards, 2020.
Dr. Greenebaum has been an active member of multiple organizations on campus, including but not limited to the Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies (WGSS) program, The Committee on the Concerns of Women (CCW), The Committee on the Concerns of LGBTQ+ (CCQ), the University Senate's Equity, Justice, and Inclusion committee.
Dr. Greenebaum has over a dozen peer review articles and was formerly an Associate Editor for the journal Society and Animals and the Animal and Society Section Chair of the American Sociological Association.
