Biography

Walton Brown-Foster, Ph.D., is a professor in the political science department at Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, CT.  She is a coordinating faculty member of the African American Studies program in which she teaches courses.  She is Editor in Chief of the online journal: 1619: Journal of African American Studies.  She also serves as the Coordinator for the International Studies-Latin American Studies program.  Her courses in political science also support the African Studies and Peace Studies Programs.

She received her doctorate in political science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  Her areas of research and teaching are Latin American Politics, African Politics, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Religion and Politics, and African American, Race, and Ethnic politics.  She has taught at the University of Georgia, Athens, and Yale University, New Haven.  In addition, she has been the lead course developer and instructor of online courses at Charter Oak State College, Connecticut's only public online College, for two decades.  Professional affiliations include the American Political Science Association, New England Political Science Association, and Pi Sigma Alpha and Alpha Sigma Lambda Honors Societies membership.  In addition, she is a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a member of The Links, Inc.
